LATE-night drinking plans at a Sheffield pub are being opposed by a neighbourhood watch group.

The Black Bull, Ecclesfield, wants to extend its hours so it can open from 10am to 12.30am Sundays to Thursdays and from 10am to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.

But neighbourhood watch coordinator Michael Breen told a meeting of Ecclesfield Parish Council he had contacted 94 people living nearby and 88 were opposed.

He said there were already complaints about late-night noise and anti-social behaviour outside the pub including broken glasses and bottles and plants removed from planters.

He has submitted a protest petition to the city council’s licensing board and the parish council agreed to give its support to the objection.
