£100,00 investment in Sheffield waste site secures jobs

CSG has upgraded its facilities on Douglas Road, Parkwood Springs, to reduce turnaround times for customers offloading sludge and solids for processing.

The increased capacity has led to two new jobs - drivers who were hired in December - and the company is looking to recruit an apprentice driver in the near future.

Jen Cartmell, treatment director of CSG: “This investment represents our commitment to technology to process and recycle waste components and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

“The former Frogsons' site is an important part of our network of waste processing facilities. Last year alone, the Sheffield site took in more than 70,000 tonnes of waste, reducing the amount of material going to landfill or incineration.”

The investment includes installation of dewatering valves on tanks, to increase the efficiency of gravity separation of oil, water and solids, and a bespoke offload filter system to screen out heavy solids which could otherwise damage pumping systems.

The site can accommodate a range of vehicles delivering waste oils, oily waters, oily sludge and other oil contaminated wastes for processing.

The company, which has 26 other sites across the UK, is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain.CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 80 years ago and now employs nearly 500.
