HMV Sheffield: Popular Sheffield city centre retailer forced to close after overnight flooding
The store is hoping to reopen later today once staff have cleared the damage
A popular retailer has been forced to close its doors on one of the busiest shopping days of the week after flooding overnight.
HMV, the entertainment retailer known for selling music, films, vinyl records, books, games and pop culture merchandise, remained closed this morning (July 7) while staff worked to clean up the damage.

A notice displayed on the door told customers:
"Apologies, the store has flooded overnight.
“The shop may be open later today once the damage has been cleared.
“Sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Workers could be seen inside the shop mopping the floor as they cleared away the water in the hope of reopening later in the day.
No reopening time had been confirmed, although the notice suggested the store may be able to welcome customers back later today once the clean-up operation has been completed.
It is not yet known what caused the flooding or how extensive the damage inside the shop is.
