A SHEFFIELD estate agent is backing government plans to shake up the planning process.
The proposed changes represent ‘a significant opportunity’ for individuals and organisations looking to progress commercial property development, according to Tim Bottrill, partner at Knight Frank.
Under the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), the default answer to all applications is set to become ‘yes’, through the introduction of a presumption in favour of development, where it is sustainable. Even in green belt.
It also gives greater power to councils. An announcement is due next year.
Mr Bottrill added: “There is a clear emphasis to deliver strong economic growth that can help aid the post-recession recovery.”
