Tuffnells Parcels Express, the Sheffield-based next day business to business delivery specialist, says trading performance for 2011 improved significantly, despite the continuing difficult economic climate.
Turnover for the Shepcote Lane company rose by 6.7 per cent to £109.3 million and profits were up by 1.3 per cent at £8.7 million.
Directors have approved payment of a £7 million final dividend, down by 5.4 per cent on last year.
Tuffnells was established almost a century ago and is an independently owned logistics business which runs more than 700 vehicles out of 30 depots across the UK and Ireland and also operates a road-based service into Europe and an ‘Air Express’ service to the rest of the world.
The company prides itself on providing a localised, personal service, where customers each have a named contact, instead of operating a call centre.
