Two new interim bosses have been appointed at the helm of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive after the departure of director-general David Brown.

Ben Still, chief executive of Sheffield City Region, and David Young, SYPTE’s director of customer experience, will share the director-general responsibilities.

Mr Brown has taken charge of Merseytravel.

Mr Still and Mr Young are set to be in charge for at least 11 months until changes to public bodies in South Yorkshire take place to form a combined authority responsible for economic development and transport.

Mick Jameson, chairman of South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority, which oversees the PTE, said: “We will be making a permanent arrangement in due course.”
