Business turnaround specialists from Sheffield have been called in to rescue a Scarborough bakery that includes supermarket chain Wm Morrison among its clients.
Gareth Rusling and Christopher White from The P&A Partnership are keeping the Woodhead Bakery trading while they seek a buyer, but have had to make 30 of its 310 employees redundant.
Christopher White said: “Unfortunately, Woodhead Bakery has been hit by inflation and the impact of rising global wheat prices, in addition to harsh economic conditions on the High Street.
“We believe that by continuing to trade we have the best chance of finding a buyer and we have retained as many employees as we possibly can.”
