Over 100 people attended an event in Doncaster intended to show business owners how to bid for council contracts.
A total of 140 representatives from local companies attended the event at Castle Park hosted by Doncaster Council’s corporate procurement team and Business Doncaster.
Council officials said that the high attendance level showed many companies were eager to get in on the action.
Deputy Mayor of Doncaster Coun Glyn Jones, who attended the event, said: “It’s very encouraging to see representatives from so many local companies showing a desire to come to events like this, to network with each other and learn more about how to get contract work with the public sector.”
Doncaster Council cabinet member for regeneration and environment, Coun Bob Johnson, added: “The positivity in the room showed that confidence is going up – local businesses know that Doncaster’s economy is improving, and that tender opportunities with the council, in particular, are more accessible.”
Complete Catering Service’s Dominique Emmans said: “This is just what Doncaster’s business community needs as it flourishes.”
