Small firms are cautiously optimistic and showing greater levels of confidence about the future, according to new research by the Federation of Small Businesses.

The Federation’s Small Business Index shows firms are planning to invest and access finance.

Investment is a priority for around a third of firms in the coming 12 months and the FSB hopes increased capital allowances, allowing small firms to invest up to £250,000 without paying tax, will hopefully provide enough of an incentive to bring forward investment plans. However, the FSB is concerned about inflation and energy prices.
