Two Sheffield theatres are opening their doors to the Institute of Directors (IoD) South Yorkshire for an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ tour and masterclass on public speaking.

The event, which is open to both members and non-members, is held on June 16 and will start at 5.15pm with a tour backstage, including wardrobe department, rehearsal rooms and the main auditorium in both the Crucible and Lyceum theatres.

The tours will be followed by a masterclass led by renowned BBC radio presenter Blair Jacobs.

Blair is a renowned public speaker and media trainer and in the past had his own show on BBC Radio Humberside.

He has also presented numerous television news bulletins for Look North, as well as providing voiceovers for corporate videos.

Keith Jackson, chairman of the IoD South Yorkshire, said: “We set the bar high last year with our masterclasses and we are aiming even higher with our events programme this year.

“The Crucible and Lyceum are iconic theatres and this is a fantastic opportunity for IoD members and their guests to get behind the scenes and see how two of the country’s most iconic theatres operate.

“It is also a great opportunity to learn from an expert in public speaking and we are delighted to be able to welcome Blair Jacobs to deliver our masterclass.”

Tickets are £25 plus VAT to members and £30 plus VAT to non IoD members.
