'Numpties’ STILL trying to book tables at Sheffield's bars and pubs despite lockdown

Clueless customers are STILL trying to book tables at pubs and restaurants in Sheffield despite the country being two weeks into a national lockdown.

It comes after several hospitality venues in the city mocked ‘serious numpties’ who tried to do the same thing at the start of the latest shutdown.

Trippets Lounge Bar, based on Trippet Lane, tweeted on Wednesday: “Seriously!!!!!! Just had another numpty trying to book a table for tonight. Who are these people????????”

The Dog & Partridge, a pub based on the same road, replied: “It's unbelievable, isn't it! We've had several calls asking about opening hours and reservations starting to get paranoid someone's casing the place.”

Not everyone was critical, however.

One person tweeted: “To be fair, every other business is open. It’s only catering that’s been closed down. You would be hard pushed to know this lockdown is even happening [...] I’ve been to a garden centre. How is that essential?”

Hospitality businesses in Sheffield could reopen after December 2.
