A new networking group is aimed at entrepreneurs, start-ups and freelancers whose vision extend beyond their current city.
Bottle Top Business was founded by Annie O’Toole, aged 23, and Rebecca Mortby, 26, who felt there were cultural and tribal differences between cities in the North, despite talk of a ‘Northern Powerhouse’ and devolved powers.
Annie is a business student in Liverpool and founder of crowd funding business Juxdit. Rebecca was raised in Sheffield and founded a trip and event planning business after graduating from Liverpool University.
Rebecca said: “I was shocked by how different the cultures of business and networking can be, and this took some time to adjust to and to fully understand.”
Bottle Top launches tonight at 6pm at Bloo 88 bar on West Street in Sheffield. It is free to attend. Other events will follow in Liverpool and Manchester and six other cities, with speakers and a big database of members, the pair say.
Annie said: “If Northern enterprise is to compete with London, then we have to forge stronger links and not just at the high end.”
