Bawtry’s first market in over two decades was hailed a success by visitors and the town’s retailers.

The Farmers’ Market in The Courtyard attracted a host of stall holders ranging from fresh produce including local cheese and traditional sweets to personalised jewellery.

“Our first market was a tremendous success and sincere thanks go to all our stall holders, visitors and organisers who all braved the thunder, lightning and rain on the day,” said Sarah White, of Bawtry Eye Academy. “But nothing was able to dampen our spirits as we resurrected the traditional market in Bawtry with a 21st century twist.”

Music was provided by Damian Dalton Smith of The Torn and circus entertainment was by Jamie Rosser. Don Valley MP Caroline Flint attended and said: “This is a great opportunity to celebrate some local and specialist producers and I really hope the market takes off.”

The next market is on Saturday, June 21, between 9am and 3pm. They will take place on the first and third Saturday of each month until October.
