The Doncaster Chamber is preparing to start the new year with a new CEO following the upcoming retirement of its current leader.

Current Deputy CEO Dan Fell has been unanimously appointed to the position of Chief Executive by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Dan will take up his role in January following the departure of Phil Harris.

Dan, who has worked at the Chamber for almost ten years said: “For many years I have had a passion for Doncaster and its economy and I am delighted that I will be able to continue playing an integral role to the town’s further development.”

Phil Harris has seen the Chamber develop and grow over the last three years as CEO, including an enhanced membership offering, the introduction of the Chamber led ‘Doncaster Skills Academy’ (which sees businesses and schools working closely together to prepare local students for the world of work), and, along with its partners, has now supported well over 2000 people start their own business through the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA).

“I have greatly enjoyed my time as Chief Executive and will be very sad to leave the team, but retirement beckons and I am looking forward to spending more time with my granddaughter and in the garden. I am very pleased to pass the reigns over to Dan who has been doing a brilliant job as my Deputy so I know I am leaving the Chamber in safe hands”.

The President of Doncaster Chamber, Stacey Austin added: “The Chamber’s Board would like to thank Phil for his tremendous hard work over the last three years during which he, together with the Senior Management Team, has turned the Chamber into a dynamic and robust business organisation that is respected by the private and public sector alike locally. We have been finalised by the British Chambers of Commerce for Chamber of the Year this year and that is a great testament to Phil’s hard work and drive.

Dan has worked for the Chamber for a number of years and is well known in the local business community. His passion for the Chamber and the local economy is evident and, as a board, we are delighted to have been able to appoint Dan to the Chief Executive role to take us into the future.”
