A DONCASTER woman who gave birth to a premature baby has launched a new business selling organic baby products.
When Michelle Wood, from Bentley, gave birth to Gabrielle 11 weeks early weighing only 2lbs, she wanted good quality clothes that were pure and would not prove abrasive on the youngster’s delicate skin.
Because of the time it took to find suitable clothes and spurred on with the growing list of benefits that organic clothes brought to Gabrielle, Michelle started to research organic clothing and soft toys.
She soon realised there was a gap in the market for the type of babywear and decided to start her own business providing safe products for mother and baby.
Michelle set up Little Footprint Baby Boutique which, for the next three months, will be located in Doncaster Wool Market with support from Success Doncaster through a Business Buddy and a Business Mentor.
Michelle said: “One of the exciting things that we are working on is the design of my own label organic cotton clothing. I would like to see that in a year’s time I have developed as a person and that Little Footprint is going from strength to strength.
“I intend to continue supporting the local community, taking on new employees and being recognised for my corporate social responsibility, which currently sees the business run in an environmentally friendly manner.”
Michelle has also been nominated as a finalist for the Yorkshire Women in Business Awards in the retail category.
