THE boss of a Rotherham engineering firm raised thousands for poorly children by scaling one of the world’s highest mountains.

Gordon Panter, managing director of PMS Diecasting, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise more than £4,000 for the charity Alice’s Escapes.

The good cause provides free holidays in the Lake District for seriously ill children and their families.

Gordon prepared for the climb with treadmill sessions, endurance training and a controlled diet.

It took him four days to reach the top of the 19,000ft peak in Tanzania, where he displayed his company’s name.

PMS produces 36 million castings annually for its customers, which include the Sheffield firm Gripple.
