Protesters opposing benefit cuts are to take to the streets of Barnsley.

The community branch of Unite the union will lead the march to Peel Square in the town centre on Monday.

Organisers are showing their support to residents who have been affected by job losses and the coalition government’s welfare reforms.

Joe Rollin, the Unite community coordinator for Yorkshire, said: “It is a disgrace that in one of the richest countries in the world increasing numbers of people are facing hardship.”
