The Global Manufacturing Festival opens in Sheffield on Wednesday, March 21 when Boeing UK’s chairman, Sir Roger Bone delivers the annual Sheffield Management Lecture.

Key events include a convention and trade show covering issues such as UK strategy and support, opportunties in new markets and commercialising technological developments.

Speakers will include Foreign and Commonwealth Office minister Jeremy Browne; EDF Energy’s head of procurement Alan Cummings; Andrew Peters from Siemens Drive Technologies; former Smith & Nephew chief executive Sir Chris O’Donnel and Ric Parker, director of research and technology at Rolls Royce.

The Festival also includes the annual Made in Sheffield Awards and ‘Get Up To Speed With Engineering And Manufacturing,’ an event designed to enthuse children and their parents about careers in engineering by showing them some of the fastest vehicles and people on earth and how their success has been achieved with the help of design, engineering and manufacturing.
