investment, innovation and incentives should be among the key drivers of economic growth in the Sheffield City Region, says the region’s Manufacturing Forum.

But companies need to boost their own in-house training says the Forum, in a submission to the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Forum chair, Master Cutler Pam Liversidge, said: “Most manufacturers are looking to grow their businesses with the same number of workers or even less.”

The Forum represents companies with a turnover of more than £3 billion, employing most of the region’s 37,000 manufacturing workers.
