ALMOST half of South Yorkshire residents are not making use of their tax free savings allowance, according to government statistics.

Figures from the Office of National Statistics show only 51 per cent of people in the county have an Individual Savings Account, or ISA.

From today, up to £5,640 in cash can be saved in an ISA without tax being paid on the interest accrued.
