Big-hearted companies from across the country are set to help the UK’s sickest children get a good night sleep by sponsoring bedrooms in a new wing at The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.
Firms from all sectors have pledged hundreds of thousands of pounds to sponsoring bedrooms, wards and consulting rooms in the wing.
From £5000 consulting rooms to £40,000 four-bed bays, the companies have doggedly raised funds to support the cause in recent months.
Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser at the hospital, said: “It is so awe-inspiring to work with these incredible, generous companies and see the dedication of their staff when it comes to reaching their target.”
The hospital redevelopment is being funded through the charity’s Make it Better appeal, which will help build three new wards, with mostly private, en suite rooms with parent beds, so families can be together during the most difficult times.
Paul Firth, regional managing partner of Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office – who sponsored a £25,000 private room - said: “We believe it is the ideal way for Irwin Mitchell to demonstrate its long-term support and commitment for such an important local charity.”
Other firms who have pledged their support include:- Halifax, Investec, Royal Bank of Scotland, Matalan, GRI Group, Plusnet, Brewkitchen, Irwin Mitchell, HSBC, Ancon, Wilko, Proact, Peter Hoare & Co, Thomson Airways, Perrigo, Nandos, SIG Apprentices, Double Tree by Hilton, PWC, Newburgh Engineering, Sheffield Hallam – Events Students and Virgin Media.
