Lunch is out for busy workers

Have your say

FORTY per cent of Sheffield workers have no time for a lunch break, leaving no down time during the average day, a new survey has found.

Just a third of employees stick to their contracted hours, while a quarter admitted to training provider Lifetime that they worked an extra five hours a week.

Some 20 per cent said they worked six days per week, leaving only one day for rest and relaxation.

The survey also found work did not stop when people went home - one in three employees in Sheffield regularly check work emails during their spare time and 64 per cent said work worries crept into their weekends.

One in three admitted having to ‘pull a sickie’ to escape the grind of working life.
