Commercial property consultant Lambert Smith Hampton’s Sheffield office has been appointed to acquire more than 30 acres of land for a major urban renewal and regeneration programme in Derby.
The £100 million Castleward project is the brainchild of Compendium Living and involves building more than 800 new homes - including affordable housing - a school, community spaces and commercial developments.
In addition to acquiring the land, which runs between Derby railway station and the city centre, LSH will help displaced occupiers to relocate to other parts of the city and manage vacant and occoupied properties until they are demolished.
LSH project director, Matthew Barnsdale, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this landmark project, which will herald a new era for Derby city centre. With several sites having already been brought forward by Derby City Council, it is fantastic to be finally making headway with a development proposal that has been widely publicised for many years.”
Work is due to start towards the end of next year and will take 10 years to complete.
