Police in Rotherham are urging residents to put new locks at the top of their Christmas list after a spate of break-ins.

Burglars struck at three homes which all had doors fitted with old euro locks.

Electrical items and a watch were stolen from Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh, between noon and 6pm on Monday, December 2.

A property in Main Street in Rawmarsh was broken into between Sunday evening and Monday morning, but nothing was stolen.

And burglars took cash from a hous in Newhall Avenue, Wickersley, between 3pm and 5pm on Monday.

DI John Hobson said: “I’d urge residents who have old type locks to put `new locks’ on their Christmas list.”
