Linear Recruitment has marked its tenth anniversary by opening its first overseas office – in Scandinavia.

Sheffield-based Linear, which already has offices in Leeds, Walsall, Milton Keynes, Newcastle and London has set up an office in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, three months after launching a new division recruiting staff for the oil, gas and renewables sector.

The company plans to use the office to build its client base in Norway and throughout Scandinavia.

Linear established its oil, gas and renewables division in Newcastle office but divisional head, Gareth Allen, has wide-ranging experience in the Norwegian market and resolved toregister the company there as soon as he took on the post.

“I have a strong track record in Norway going back a number of years and the Norwegian market will be a key element in our strategic plans to grow the division,” said Mr Allen.

“We now have a registered address in Oslo and have brought on board our first Norwegian client. This will mark the beginning of our expansion not only in Norway but in the whole Scandinavian region and we’re looking forward to generating new employment opportunities for UK candidates in those territories.”

Linear’s managing director, Adam Turner, said: “Building any new division has inherent risks but a combination of the growth potential in the sector and Gareth’s drive and experience have helped us get off to a flying start.

“Becoming registered in Norway is an important step and we’ll continue to look for new opportunities to feed growth.”

Official registration is mandatory for any recruitment company that wants to supply temporary or permanent workers in Norway.
