Irwin Mitchell’s personal legal services teams have been ranked as market-leading once again by the Legal 500 independent researchers.
The firm’s personal legal services department secured 23 number one rankings with 74 recommended lawyers in the long-standing independent guide to the legal industry – both improvements on the 2014 guide.
The 2015 UK report ranks the firm as number one for clinical negligence, personal injury, family, contentious trusts and probate, court of protection, education and travel.
The firm maintained its strong rankings in many other areas of law across the country including the public law team, which covers civil liberties and human rights, while the firm was also ranked for professional negligence, personal tax, product liability and healthcare.
The medical negligence team at Irwin Mitchell was described as the ‘go-to firm’ and covers the full range of work, and specialises in complex, unique cases including spinal injuries, amputations and late cancer diagnoses. Julianne Moore was recommended and leads the ‘excellent’ Sheffield practice.
The personal injury team was also rated as ‘One of the best teams in the country’ and handles all elements of personal injury, with particular expertise in serious injury claims, including brain and spinal injury cases.
Adrian Budgen is named as an asbestos expert. Other serious injury partners in Sheffield include Andrea Burke, Rachael Aram and Louise Jenkins.
Irwin Mitchell’s family law team is named as the top tier firm in the region and handles all manner of family law matters including high net worth divorce. The team is led by Martin Loxley with partner Zoe Round also recommended.
The contentious trusts and probate team also tops the rankings and handles a wide range of claims, particularly those involving issues of mental capacity, undue influence and validity and Sheffield partner Adam Draper is known to be ‘extremely empathetic’. The team are strengthened by the arrival of Carla Rist who joins from hlw Keeble Hawson and Ashleigh Carr who recently qualified.
Irwin Mitchell also provides advice to individuals and businesses on tax, trusts and wealth structuring, with corporate clients including Age UK and Barclays Bank. Gillian Coverley leads this team as well as the wills trusts and probate and conveyancing teams.
