FURTHER TJ Hughes branches have been bought by the same company which has taken over the Sheffield store.
Lewis’s Home Retail Ltd, which has already agreed to take over the former TJ Hughes department store at the corner of High Street and Arundel Gate in Sheffield city centre, has now bought stores in Widnes and Newcastle, saving a further 134 jobs.
In a statement, TJ Hughes’ joint administrators Tom Jack and Simon Allport from Ernst & Young said: “We have completed a second deal to sell the business and assets of two more stores. This deal safeguards 134 jobs in the Widnes and Newcastle stores, with all employees having now transferred to Lewis’s Home. It follows the sale of four stores to the same purchaser on August 8, which preserved 442 jobs at stores including one in Sheffield.”
