That’s according to Tim Latham, organiser of an online event featuring talks on innovation, artificial intelligence, the internet of things, 5G, intelligent automation and cloud services.

Each one can boost a business – but used in tandem the benefits can mushroom, he says, especially now, when the pandemic has restricted business activity.

The Virtual TechExpo is at 12 noon on November 19.

It is part of Sheffield Digital Festival which was rescheduled from May and is now fully online.

Tim, founder of artificial intelligence firm datatrainer, said: “The irony of Covid knocking the physical event on the head is those technologies and the productivity gains they create are now even more vital.

“It doesn’t need to be ‘total digital transformation’. Take one technology and find part of your business where you can make some gains and use that as a pilot.

“A lot of tech works together, they can turbocharge each other. The pandemic is forcing bosses to think radically about how to run a business.”

The talks last 20 minutes each and include a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. They will feature speakers from organisations including datatrainer, BJSS, the University of Sheffield, Innovate UK and Microsoft, via local partner.

The expo will also have online trade stands and a networking area. Doncaster Sheffield Airport is headline sponsor.
