Higher loan ceiling speeds up responses

South Yorkshire's 'booming entrepreneurial culture' led Yorkshire Bank to announce a sevenfold increase in the size of loan it's Sheffield-based Financial Solutions Centre can grant without referring to the bank's main board.

Any loan above 10 million formerly had to be referred to the board, but now the South Yorkshire limit has been upped to 75 million.

South Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre managing partner Martin Ibbetson said: “South Yorkshire is continuing to experience good growth through its entrepreneurial culture, and this move demonstrates our commitment to be at the heart of this.

“In a fast-moving economy, businesses need a quick response.

“This new facility will strengthen local decision-making by enabling our credit team to visit clients through South Yorkshire and their projects more easily and provide businesses with faster decisions, supported by local knowledge, which is how it should be for a bank founded in Yorkshire.”
