We asked readers what they thought the ugliest buildings in Sheffield were, and they didn’t hold back! Old or new, some structures simply don't appeal.
What do you think of this list? Comment below if you think we’ve missed any out.
13. Trinity United Reformed Church
Windows? Who needs them. This church on Ecclesall Road looks more like a prison than a place of worship. Grim. Photo: Google
14. The Diamond
Another university building and famous for being shortlisted in the prestigious Carbuncle Cup for ‘worst new building in the UK’ by Building Design architecture magazine. Enough said. Photo: -
15. Nurtur House
Funny looking. But this student block on Allen Street is one of 23 new buildings in the ‘People’s Choice’ category of this year’s Sheffield Design Awards. So it could end up being officially Sheffield’s best. Vote here: https://www.sheffieldsocietyofarchitects.org.uk/ue-collab-sda-2022-peopleschoice Photo: Ian Richardson
16. Elshaw House
Not finished yet, but this Heart of the City II office block is a future contender for sure. Photo: -
