THE Sheffield branch of charity Emmaus has launched an online shopping service for customers to buy its unusual and retro goods.
The organisation gives people who were formerly homeless somewhere safe and welcoming to live, and rediscover their dignity and self-pride through being part of a working community.
It already has second-hand and vintage shops at its headquarters in Cadman Street, close to Sheffield’s Canal Basin. But now it’s also possible to search for items via the Emmaus Sheffield Facebook page.
“We already know how successful internet shopping can be because we have an eBay page where we sell some of our rare and valuable donations,” said retail manager Charley Holman. “On Facebook it’s more of a virtual shopping experience – there’s even a film that takes you around the shop – and paying is easy and secure with Paypal.”
