Acorn Industrial Services has consolidated its operations in Rotherham.

The wholesale distributor of bearings, power transmission products and linear systems, which used to operate from three warehouses in the town, has moved to a 40,000 sq ft central distribution centre at Hellaby.

Financial director Martin Povey says the company has doubled the size of its operations, opening the way to further growth and new jobs, and is now more conveniently located for national and international distribution channels.

Acorn lays claim to being one of the largest stockists of bearings and power transmissions in Europe.

The company, which has grown each year for the last 10 years and increased its turnover from £14.3 million to £17.4 million by the end of 2011, praised its 80-strong workforce for working night and day and through holidays to move more than a million items of stock and the company’s offices in a short space of time.
