A new Aldi is set to open in Rotherham after planning permission was granted today for a 50,000 sq ft retail park on Great Eastern Way.
The site, adjoining Parkgate Town Centre, will house five units in total including the 16,500 sq ft Aldi. Developer Gregory Property Group said some 70 per cent of the remaining floor space is also under offer to national retailers.
Richard Tovey, of Gregory Property Group said: “Delivering a new Aldi fulfils a local need for an easily accessible discount food store as this was ‘lost’ to the area when the original Netto store was taken over by ASDA.”
Work will start on site in summer and there is a nine-month build programme.
