Smarthomes specialist Konnectiv Technology has taken top spot in a national contest to find the best designer and installer of home control and integrated entertainment systems.

The Sheffield company, which creates home automation, home cinema and multi-room entertainment systems, won gold at the industry’s annual Sound Vision Install Awards, having taken bronze last year, the same year that the 1Zero4 house, in Harrogate, which features its systems, won the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ award for Best Residential Development.

Abbeydale Road-based Konnectiv has spent the last year developing software and hardware that allows clients to control their home lighting, heating, security and entertainment systems from an iPad, picking up prestigious clients throughout the country in the process.

The company has also been increasingly in demand as a designer and installer of home cinemas, becoming one of the leading experts in the country.

Managing director, Kris Hogg, said “When you consider we were up against some very capable companies, especially in the London area, it’s brilliant that we have been singled out as the best home technology company in the UK.

“We have spent a lot of time developing and perfecting our systems to allow home owners to have total control over their home and this award underlines how this dedication to perfection is recognized by our fellow industry peers.”

Mr Hogg reckons Konnectiv’s efforts to ensure the technology allows clients to control the way they live, rather than the other way round, helped it to secure Gold in the SVI Awards.

“The key difference has always been that we listen to how our clients like to live,” he says.
