Great value and a touch of genuine catwalk glamour – you can get it all at Sheffield’s St Luke’s Hospice.

Classroom supervisor Laura Gregory is the current Miss South Yorkshire International, one of the country’s top beauty crowns.

And one of the stylish dresses she wore en route to beauty pageant victory - a full length, strapless dove grey evening gown from the Lipsy VIP range - is now being sold through St Luke’s eBay site.

“One of the important things about being part of the beauty contest circuit is you can use the title to do some good in the community,” said 26-year-old Laura, of Kiveton Park.

“I want to use my title to help local charities and I realised what a fantastic organisation St Luke’s is and what great work they do for all the people of Sheffield.”

Meanwhile Paul Howard has raised more than £2,500 for St Luke’s by taking part in the Czecheap Challenge, a marathon journey through Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia and back again in a banger.

Paul, the community liaison manager at Sheffield’s Parkwood Academy, set out with wife Judy in an old but reliable 1997 VW Golf GTI 15v, which managed the journey safely and got the couple back to Sheffield in one piece. Their motoring adventure raised a final total of £2,529.75.

And one of the musical highlights of the classical year has raised more than £2,000 for St Luke’s.

Opera legend Lesley Garrett joined Dore Male Voice Choir’s 50th anniversary concert at Sheffield City Hall for an evening that also included performances by the city’s Bel Canto Choir and The Union City of Sheffield Brass Band. The concert raised a final total of £2,531.95 for St Luke’s.
