ANOTHER one day strike by bus drivers was going ahead today.
Stagecoach drivers in Barnsley, Rotherham and the Dearne Valley turned down 5.5 per cent and a new pay offer of £9.05 an hour. Unite union members already took strike action in December and November.
Stagecoach said it would operate a ‘near-normal’ service despite the action, with a £1 flat single fare for adults.
Unite spokesman John Evans said drivers are calling for £9.50 an hour - still less than other firms pay in the region, he claimed.
Stagecoach buses in Sheffield and Chesterfield, and Stagecoach East Midlands buses in Rotherham and Doncaster were running as normal.
