Evri Group launches recruitment drive ahead of peak season - creating 9,000 roles

For the first time, the brand is also inviting interest from candidates without a vehicle through its new 'no van, no problem' proposition

Evri has outlined plans to recruit more than 10,000 people as the parcel delivery giant prepares for peak season.

The firm - which has a superhub at junction 37 of the M1 in Hoyland, Barnsley - is creating 7,000 ‘community courier’ of self-employed drivers.

Evri Premium is also recruiting 2,000 owner-drivers.

It operates separately from Evri’s standard courier service and specialises in large and high-value items.

For the first time, the brand is also inviting interest from candidates without a van through its new 'no van, no problem' proposition.

Founded in Yorkshire in 1974, Evri now has 12,000 staff and 30,000 self-employed couriers.

Carl Lyon, chief operating officer at Evri Group, said: "We are already delivering more than one billion parcels a year, and by strengthening our workforce across our courier and premium delivery networks, we are putting the steps in place as we build towards our ambition of becoming a 1.4 billion parcel business by 2030."

The recruitment drive follows a "transformational year" for the business, with revenue growth of 29 per cent, boosted by its merger with DHL eCommerce UK.

It follows an investment of more than £80m across its network, infrastructure and technology this year and last.
