Evershed work on PFIs

EVERSHEDS LLP's well-respected local government team, led by Stephen Cirell, continues to impress, acting for numerous local authorities nationwide. The firm completed the Bracknell, Reading and Wokingham joint waste PFI and Salford Schools PFI, and is advising York City Council on transport outsourcing to its new Eco Depot.

As well as working on a significant number of regeneration schemes (including for Doncaster Borough Council, Leeds City Council and Reading Borough Council), Addleshaw Goddard has notable experience in PFI street lighting projects. The team acts for government departments and agencies, project sponsors and contractors, as well as funders.

Appointments as sole adviser on a range of transformational projects in North Tyneside and work for local councils, Kent Police Authority, and several London boroughs has helped to secure Nabarro’s place as one of the leading advisers to local government in the region.

The Victoria Quays firm shares its ranking with Irwin Mitchell and DLA.

IM’s team, led by Michael Longden, is praised for being ‘tactically and legally very astute.’

Its work has included advising the Leeds Learning network on restricted procurement of web-accessed learning materials, acting for Rotherham Council on a regeneration project, and for Learning Trust on the establishment of the South West Grid.

DLA Piper’s successes include advising Birmingham and Leeds city councils on high-value Private Finance Initiative street lighting contracts, worth 2 billion and 90 million, respectively.

The team also advised on the selection of a company to establish a broadband network in South Yorkshire and was appointed by Leeds City Council to provide legal advice on a 50 million accommodation project.
