MAYOR of Doncaster Peter Davies expects Doncaster to benefit from a £3 million investment in manufacturing, logistics and energy across South Yorkshire.

Doncaster Council’s Invest in Doncaster arm will take a share of the European Regional Development Fund cash as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development.

It plans to use the money to support inward investors and business growth.

The funding will be used by Invest in Doncaster to boost private sector expansion through Invest in Doncaster’s Sector Growth and Key Account Management programme. The aim is to create new jobs and providing support to boost the competitiveness of targeted small to medium enterprises, a spokesman said.

Mr Davies said: “This is a welcome boost for Doncaster’s economy and excellent news for our vibrant business community.

“Doncaster is a fantastic location to be in business and the programme will ensure we continue to support growth within the borough.”
