Clothes shop Dress Mode on busy Fargate in Sheffield announces closure

A clothes shop on a busy city centre street is closing down.

The Star understands it will close this weekend.

The announcement comes amid upheaval on the popular pedestrian street. Dress Mode is next door to a building site for Event Central, set to be an £8m event space, café/bar, offices and meeting rooms.

It was due to open this year but the electricity supply problems have pushed it back to 2027.

Clothes retailer H&M closed a large shop on Fargate in June and stationery retailer TG Jones is closing in January.

Pizza Slice is set to open near Marks & Spencer and Oriental Express supermarket is moving into the former Starbucks cafe.
