Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall Sports Association were awarded £1000 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire to help fund new sight screens for its cricket pitch, permanent outdoor seating and covers for the cricket wickets.

The group received the money from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire as part of the house builder’s Community Champions project, which will see a pot of £24,000 being donated to local groups and charities over the next 12 months in the region.

Peter Fell, chairman of the Barnby Dun Cricket Club, said the cash boost will give the club a new lease of life for generations to come.

He said: “We are so pleased that Persimmon Homes Yorkshire has chosen to support us.

“This donation means that we can buy essential new sight screens, outdoor seating and covers for cricket wickets which will really improve our facilities.”

Two groups will now be chosen every month to receive a donation and Yorkshire-based charities are being encouraged to apply by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.

The firm has recently begun work on a new development in Bessacarr, Doncaster and has further sites across the region. Visit their website at www.persimmonhomes.com for further information on funding packages available.
