Domination of male executives

Have your say

A EURO MP representing South Yorkshire has carried out a survey of businesses about under representation of female executives, and whether there should be quotas to improve the ratio of women on company boards.

According to the European Commission, only 10 per cent of board members at Europe’s largest companies are women, and in 97 per cent of cases the board is chaired by a man.

Lib Dem Yorkshire and the Humber Euro MP Diana Wallis said: “I had a very interesting response to the survey with views right across the spectrum.

“Europe may well be able to provide the answer, with some clear encouragement to companies to do better, and the European Parliament has made it clear that if they don’t by 2015 we may have to go down the path of legislation.”
