A former pub could be turned into a restaurant and two shops.

Javlin Property Limited has applied to convert the former Royal Oak in Station Road, Chapeltown.

The developer wants to create two shops and a restaurant, while also making alterations to the first floor flat.

The pub closed in 2013 and has been vacant and falling into disrepair ever since.

According to the firm’s website: “The former Royal Oak at Chapeltown is currently undergoing a change.

“Sold by the brewery with a restrictive covenant not to be used as licensed premises, we are taking enquiries from people / businesses who may wish to lease all or part of the property.

“We are currently upgrading the exterior and interior. This will take a few months. Please phone or email for further details.”
