A CONSORTIUM of local architects has joined forces with city development company Creativesheffield in a bid to win contracts to help build a new satellite town in Sheffield’s Chinese partner city of Chengdu.
The ‘Sheffield in Chengdu’ consortium is planning a trade mission to Chengdu, mirroring the mission which came to Sheffield during the Global Manufacturing Festival in the city earlier this year.
Delegation leader, Alan Ren, from architects BDP, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to take the qualities that make Sheffield special to China.
“We are pleased to have received a lot of support from the city’s political leaders and businesses and we hope that this will be the start of an exciting project for both Sheffield and our sister city Chengdu.”
