Most of Kelham Island Brewery’s customers are to be found within a 50 mile radius of the Brewery – easy reach for its three delivery vans which are kept busy five days a week and some Saturdays.
That’s not to say that its beer doesn’t travel further.
Some PubCos distribute the beer themselves and the brewery may be asked to supply every pub in a chain when the PubCo is running a nationwide beer festival.
Kelham Island beer goes as far as Cornwall on a regular basis and some goes abroad through agencies.
“I once got a lovely email from a guy living in Helsinki who said that when he moved there he thought he had said ‘Goodbye’ to Pale Rider for ever, only to find it in the local bar,” says Dave Wickett.
“But,” he adds, “I think that, as far as possible, our beer should be sold locally.”
