Defence specialists highly ranked

BUSINESS defence specialist law firm Cartwright King, which opened a Sheffield office at S1 St James, Campo Lane in June, is celebrating its success in being highly ranked in the 2007 edition of Legal 500 which has just been published.

The firm, which until the opening of its Sheffield office, only had operations in the East Midlands in the cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, was named as the number one firm in the region for fraud and regulatory business defence. Partners Michael Thurston and Mark Wilson were specifically named as the leading players for fraud, whilst fellow partner Lynn Bleakley was recognised for her health & safety and environmental expertise. Now Dan Stowers and Blake Woodfield, two of Sheffield’s top business defence lawyers who joined Cartwright King in June to spearhead the firm’s presence in the city, plan to follow in their footsteps and put themselves and the firm on the map in South Yorkshire.

“Cartwright King is firmly committed to being a niche practice focusing on specialist areas of the law, particularly being pre-eminent for business defence,” said the firm’s head of business defence, Mark Wilson.
