Tough guy actor Dean Andrews is usually smashing down doors in TV shows like Ashes To Ashes - but this weekend he’ll take a more gentle approach.
The South Yorkshire star is officially opening the new Zap Garage Doors business in Attercliffe Common, Sheffield, on Sunday, March 22, at 1pm.
Other celebrity pals of owner Dean Baker are hoping to knock on the door and meet customers during the official opening weekend, from Friday.
The Sheffield outlet, opposite ice Sheffield and the English Institute of Sport, will create around 10 new jobs.
Zap Garage Doors, now with four outlets all over Yorkshire and employing 44 people, is a local family run business that has been supplying and fitting garage doors for over 30 years.
The company started from humble beginnings.
Owner Dean started working with his father from home in the early 80s, before opening a small local industrial unit in 1985 due to increase in demands.
“Our new showroom in Sheffield displays garage doors as you would see them installed at home, from basic up and over doors to roller doors, to state of the art overhead electric doors.
“Eleven years ago when my father died, who was also my best friend, it made me really focus on work pushing the business forward.
“I’ve always thought we needed to open a showroom in Sheffield as it was home and my father was from Tinsley.
“We decided on Attercliffe as it is fast becoming one of Sheffield’s most up and coming new developed areas.
“We are hoping people will come along this weekend, find out what we are all about, get some friendly advice and maybe meet a celebrity.”
