Creative England has launched a £1 million national business development fund to support creative and digital businesses across the English regions.

The organisation, which supports the sustainable growth of the independent film, television, games, digital and other creative sectors, says the fund will target small to medium-sized companies looking to develop new software, applications and content for sectors that include healthcare, games and interactive entertainment, e-learning and mobile applications.

Intraining, the Sheffield-based leading provider of the government’s Work Programme for the unemployed, has gained the Merlin Standard for quality and the treatment of its subcontractors.

Managing director Phil Bonell said: “We’re delighted to have achieved such a good result for our inaugural Merlin assessment.”
