A ROW has blown up over plans to extend a house in a conservation area, parts of which are claimed would be ‘on stilts’.

A planning application has been submitted to North East Derbyshire District Council for the extensions at a house on Eckington Road, Dronfield.

The application is for construction of a porch at the front, raised deck to the side, retention of a conservatory to the rear and alterations to the front elevation.

But a neighbour described the proposed extensions at Dronfield Town Council as ‘bizarre’ and like being ‘in mid air on stilts’ and said they would seriously detract from the street scene in the Dronfield Conservation Area.

Coun Christine Smith said the extensions should not be allowed and the town council has objected to the planning application.
