Top boss criticises government's 'piecemeal' support for business in Budget
The Chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership has criticised the government’s ‘piecemeal’ support for business in the Budget.
James Muir said the economy was still in ‘crisis mode’ and while the extension of furlough was welcome, it did not go far enough.
He said: “Businesses cannot plan for growth with piecemeal support. There are still considerable numbers of small business owners and self-employed individuals who are not eligible for the grants announced in the Budget, leaving them reliant on discretionary funding allocated to local authorities.”
